Chairman of the Board of Directors

    • Mr. Akbarali Pesnani

Mr. Akbar Ali Pesnani is an MBA and a fellow member of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants and Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan. He was the Chairman of Gwadar Port and Gwadar Port Implementation Authority from 2004 to 2006, and has served on the Boards of Mirpur Khas Sugar Mills, Clariant Pakistan Ltd and Agha Steel Limited. Mr. Pesnani has been associated with the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) at senior levels for over 49 years. Mr. Pesnani has also served as a Diplomatic Representative for AKDN in Tajikistan for 7 years and as an Envoy of His Highness the Aga Khan in Afghanistan for about 2 years.

Presently, he is the Chairman of Cherat Packaging Limited, Jubilee General Insurance Company Limited and the Aga Khan Cultural Service Pakistan. He is also a Director on the Board of Cherat Cement Company Limited.

He has been on the Board of Pakistan Cables Limited since 5-5-2020.

    • Mr. Azfar Arshad

Mr. Azfar Arshad, a seasoned professional and dynamic leader in the insurance industry, brings over 30 years of rich and diversified experience to his role as Chief Operating Officer at Jubilee General Insurance. With a background in mechanical engineering and an MBA in Finance from IBA Karachi, he has successfully combined technical expertise with strategic insight to drive operational excellence and innovation.

He has led product development, risk management, pricing strategies, and underwriting for conventional and non-conventional insurance products, including crop and livestock insurance. His leadership extends to reinsurance arrangements ensuring optimal structures.

Beyond operations, Mr. Arshad has been instrumental in shaping national insurance schemes and is an active contributor to industry thought leadership through seminars and training. His strategic foresight, operational acumen, and dedication to organizational growth continue to make a lasting impact on the insurance sector in Pakistan.

Mr. John Joseph Metcalf is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of UK and a senior insurance professional with extensive international experience in managing insurance companies. He is responsible for the development of strategy for the insurance business of AKFED, including management oversight as director on the Board of all AKFED investments in the insurance sector spread across Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan and several countries in East Africa.

Mr. Amin A. Hashwani belongs to a well-known business family of Pakistan. He has headed numerous business and non-business organizations, including, Pakistan India CEOs’ Business Forum, Young Presidents’ Organisation, The Network of Organisations Working for People with Disability and AIESEC, Pakistan. He is the recipient of several national and international awards for his work, including an Honorary Doctorate from USA.

    • Mr. Riyaz Ali Towfiq Chinoy

Mr. Riyaz Towfiq Chinoy is a seasoned Industrial Engineer from Case Western Reserve University, USA. He brings over three decades of leadership experience in Pakistan’s industrial manufacturing sector. After retiring from his corporate role in 2021, Mr. Chinoy founded Yaqin Steel Limited, a startup focused on pioneering large-scale steel production in Pakistan.

His dedication to corporate governance, sustainability education, and social impact continues to shape his work and inspire his contributions across both industry and community development.

Riyaz has long been involved in philanthropic efforts, particularly in education. He is on the Board of The Citizens Foundation, Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, Orange Tree Foundation (OTF), and the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Pakistan.

He currently also serves on the advisory Board of the Packages Group and TCF, and on the boards of several leading companies, including Indus Motors Limited, Pakistan Machine Tool Factory, Heavy Mechanical Complex, Bulleh Shah Packages, Packages Convertors Ltd, Starch Pack Ltd, and Magnus Investments Ltd. Riyaz has been a certified Independent Director since 2007 from the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance (PICG) and is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Pakistan.




    • Ms. Nausheen Ahmad

Ms. Nausheen Ahmad is a Barrister at Law with over 30 years of law firm and in-house counsel experience in various sectors including Oil & Gas, FMCG, Banking and large-scale manufacturing. She has served as Company Secretary and Legal Counsel in ICI Pakistan Ltd and HBL (Pakistan’s largest private sector bank). She serves on the Board of Meezan Bank Ltd which is currently the largest Islamic Bank in Pakistan, International Steel Ltd and Jubilee General Insurance Co Ltd.

She is Lead Counsel at the Legal and Governance Advisory. Her specialty areas are governance, legal compliance, conflict resolution, strategic thinking, and communication. She is an accredited mediator and master trainer and provides mediation, negotiation and conflict resolution training.

She has recently been appointed as Chancellor, Textile Institute of Pakistan.

Ms. Sima Kamil is a pioneering Pakistani banker who became the first woman to head a major Pakistani bank, United Bank Limited (UBL), in 2017. With over 35 years of experience in commercial banking, she has held key roles at American Express Bank, Standard Chartered, and Habib Bank Limited. Ms. Kamil was the first woman appointed as Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in 2020 and served a three-year term. She is also actively involved in education and social causes. Ms. Kamil is the Chairperson of the Board of Governors at Karachi Grammar School and a member of Policy Board of the SECP.
